What is Alcohol e-CheckUpToGo?

Alcohol e-CheckUpToGo is an interactive web survey that allows college and university students to enter information about their drinking patterns and receive feedback about their use of alcohol. The assessment takes about 6-7 minutes to complete, is self-guided, and requires no face-to-face contact time with a counselor or administrator.

What does it do?

When you access Alcohol e-CheckUpToGo, you are prompted to enter information about yourself. In addition to demographic information, it will ask you to enter information about your drinking habits, family history, and to complete the World Health Organization’s AUDIT.

After all information has been entered, you submit the form. The information you entered is then validated and processed. The Alcohol e-CheckUpToGo calculates a number of variables and compares your responses to national and local college norms. Then, your personalized feedback is displayed in an easy-to-read format.

Is Alcohol e-CheckUpToGo confidential?

Yes. All Alcohol e-CheckUpToGo drinking behavior data is confidential and anonymous. Alcohol e-CheckUpToGo user ID numbers are randomly generated.  UVa-Wise will be provided an online summary report of all user responses, but will not have access to any individual user identifiable data.

What do I need to use the Alcohol e-CheckUpToGo?

  1. A computer
  2. Internet access
  3. A JavaScript enabled Internet Browser
  4. About 6-7 minutes
  5. A printer (to print the feedback)
  6. UVa-Wise Student ID # (for completion verification only, if completing for a Student Conduct sanction)

How do I process completion notification if this is for a Student Conduct sanction?

After completing the Alcohol e-CheckUpToGo AND reviewing all pages of your personalized feedback, you will be prompted to begin the Electronic Verification of Completion (EVC) on the "Resources" final page of feedback.

You will enter your name, UVa-Wise Student ID #, and UVa-Wise email address.  Then, you will select the appropriate Student Conduct personnel (Student Conduct Board Hearing - Stephanie Shell; Administrative Hearing - Josh Justice) to receive your EVC via email.  Note: The EVC does not transmit students’ responses to the Alcohol e-CheckUpToGo questions nor their confidential alcohol use profile. The EVC only verifies that a student has completed the program.

Can I complete the Alcohol e-CheckUpToGo more than once?

Yes. When students take the e-CheckUpToGo again at a later date, they can enter this system-generated User ID number to identify themselves and confidentially track changes in their alcohol consumption and/or use over time.
